That's what got us in this mess in the first place.

We have to deal with the harsh truths regarding the house of cards we've built around our Republic.

Multi-generational entitlements, an endless array of Cabinet departments, most of which encroach on our rights, taxation to the point of being bled dry and tens and hundreds of thousands of interlocking and often contradictory regulations.

All brought to you by legislators who range from the corrupt, to the cowardly, the clueless and the ineffective.

As long as crap like the Dept. of (mis)Education, Dept. of (never making any) Energy, H.U.D. and others of their ilk exist, we'll never lance the boil.

All the budget deals on the talbe only slow the rate of growth, none serve to actually reduce government expenditures.

Whatever deal they come up with in D.C. in the next few days......will merely whitewash the rot beneath.

I'll believe they're getting serioius when I see the aforementioned departments on the cutting block.

And as for the military, you know I'm as hardcore pro military as exists. That said, it's shameful that for example, the Navy has as many, if not more, Admirals than ships. A few less Admirals, and a lot more ships would be a nice start. Same for the other services. Cutting those needless cabinet departments would pay for the missing F-22s that were lost when the peacenick budget cutters trimmed the buy to fewer than 200 of them. Cutting a whole lot of unnecessary "top heavy brass" will bolster the NCO forces, which are the heart of any military.

These moves might just leave enough change letover to start cutting down on the debt.

Oh yeah. Don't forget, some "Drill Here, Drill Now". Damn gas prices are killing me, and everyone else.

I want to see D.C. serious about actually reducing federal expenditures. Or, I want to see a couple million folks at the Capital steps, with torches alight, pitchforks sharpened, the tar heated and bales of feathers at hand.

I'd be happier with the former, and glad to participate in the latter.

Jim
Sunk New Dawn
Galveston, TXJimhttp://j_seigler@hotmail.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1890416885446831282.post-18828239483838257182011-07-26T17:42:57.955-04:002011-07-26T17:42:57.955-04:00Boehner has to call his bluff.

An economic crisis barreling down the road is an understatement. I've never seen this country so divided, and I'm only a few years younger than you. I agree with you, I don’t care whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, and we should probably vote 'em all out or fire 'em. It might be too late for that. We're in deep deep grado. The people let it happen because they were not paying attention. Too interested in American Idol and reality shows to pay attention to their lives. They believed the elected politicians had their best interests at heart. Nope.

It looks like the Debit-Shit is going to hit the fan. We take our medicine now, or later, but we're going to have to take it. That is a fact.

I do know one thing for certain, when people run out of money, they will take whatever they need...by force. We truly might see blood in the streets.

Hoarding bullets and guns will not work...might save you and your family in the short term, but if the economy completely fails, the people will have to learn how to survive on a different level. It won't be pretty.

If the Debt Ceiling is raised, it will only be a temporary fix...we're gonna have to pay in the end.

The real problem is...we elect idiots who care nothing about you, me, or anyone but themselves. It really doesn't matter what side of the fence they're on...we're all screwed.

I think everyone should be thinking about a plan B. Maybe I'm wrong and I hope I am, but I don't think so.

Regardless if both parties reach a "deal", we're still gonna have to dig out. I don't know if it's doable. Not looking good right now. We're all going to have to tighten our belts. Things have changed. We could use a deal, but what we really need is NEW thinking, and maybe learn Chinese.

Our government is dysfunctional, and we need to make some major changes.

Anyway, sorry to rant in your crib, but it is what I believe.Yabuhttp://badbadjuju.comnoreply@blogger.com
